Charles Hanson

Owner
Hansons Auctioneers

In the world of antiques and collectables there are few people more charismatic and passionate than Charles Hanson. In more than 20 years as an auction house owner and TV personality, Charles has inspired thousands of people to love antiques. His interest in history was born out of a childhood metal detecting find. When he was eight he dug up a Charles I coin. It ignited his passion for a job he loves.

Charles’ working life began at Christie’s in London. In 2005 he launched Hansons Auctioneers in his home county of Derbyshire. The firm now boasts multiple sister auction centres in London, Staffordshire, Oxfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Hertfordshire, plus Hansons World Football.

His finds make global headlines, from a Chinese vase used as a doorstop (sold £650,000) to Sir Bobby Charlton's 1966 World Cup semi-final shirt (£59,000). However, the Eric Morecambe Collection is his most important offering to date. He's honoured to share the love for a national treasure who will never be forgotten.
